# 2 by 2 Napoleonics v3.02 - Changes Cheat Sheet

Short version: v3.02 is an operational-control playtest release. The core game remains the same, but setup now starts with reinforcement planning, and players can buy a small pool of disposable Staff Points to steady reinforcement rolls.

## Main Rules Changes

- Setup order now starts with reinforcement points and their assigned off-map units. The defender chooses their first reinforcement point, then the attacker chooses theirs, then the defender chooses a second, then the attacker chooses a second.

- On-table deployment now happens after reinforcement points are chosen. The defender places up to 10 AP in the deployment zone, then the attacker does the same.

- Deployed units may not be placed within 6" of an enemy reinforcement point.

- Staff Points have been added. Before the battle, each player may spend up to 4 AP on Staff Points. Each AP buys 1 Staff Point.

- After making a reinforcement roll, a player may spend Staff Points to add +1 per point spent to that roll. A natural 1 always fails and cannot be improved.

- Staff Points are finite. Track them with a die beside the HQ, army edge, or roster, and discard them when spent.

## Clarifications

- The Sequence of Play now explicitly notes defensive fire in the shooting step.

- The mixed-charger defensive-fire rule now sits under Defensive Fire Against Contact, where it belongs.

- Moving to Contact now repeats that infantry may not initiate melee against cavalry and artillery may never initiate melee.

- The artillery long-range shooting modifier now says "beyond 1 inch" to mirror the short-range wording.

## Player Feedback Check

- Already covered from v3.01: defensive-fire pushback, same-aspect mixed target groups, multiple-melee procedure, who may follow up, no normal lingering melee contact, small-arms wording, Irregular Cavalry wording, Grand Battery, and Multi-Corps HQs.

- Added in v3.02: The Skald has been added to the Muster Roll.

- Still open design calls: one-maneuver movement limits, a revised rout-move procedure, more army lists, and sample scenarios.

## What Has Not Changed

- The core movement, shooting, rallying, melee, and victory structures are unchanged.

- The 1 x 1 variant is not part of v3.02.
